Dear Harbor Island West Marina Skippers,

We are excited to share the latest updates on the marina redevelopment. There continues to be
a lot of activity at the marina as we approach the main portion of our project but there is still a
lot of enthusiasm as things start to take shape. Construction continues to move forward, and
after the first four months, the project remains on schedule.

Our ceremonial groundbreaking in May generated great community interest, with coverage
from local television and newspapers. We were especially proud to see our team member, Jorge
Castaneda, receive special recognition during one news broadcast.

Construction Update – Docks

  • Construction of the new 100 and 200 dock is progressing well. Demolition of the old
docks was completed in May, and installation of the new docks and piles is now finished.
Utility connections are currently being completed, and we hope to bring in our first new
boats by the first week of August.
  • The next phase for new dock construction will be the 600 and 700 dock which is
scheduled to begin in the second week of August and ready for occupancy by mid-
December. Boaters currently on these docks will receive information soon regarding
    upcoming slip transfers.
  • Phase 3, scheduled to begin in January 2027, will include construction of the 800 and
    900 dock
. Additional details will be shared in our next project update email.
    Construction Update – Buildings/Landside
  • Demolition of the existing buildings and landside structures has been completed, and
our general contractor is now constructing foundations and installing underground
utilities. Utility trenching has temporarily affected portions of the parking lot, and
we apologize for the inconvenience. This work is expected to be completed within the
    next two weeks.
  • Dock Access – As previously announced, Dock Gates #1 and #3 remain closed. All access
to the docks will be through the existing Gate #2 and Gate #4.

Gate #2 provides access to the 300 and 400 dock in the middle of the parking lot.

Gate #4 provides access to the 500 thru 1100 dock at the east end of the property, where a new synthetic turf walkway has been installed.

Parking

Parking remains limited during construction. To maximize availability for boaters, weekend
parking is limited to one vehicle per boat. All vehicles must display a current marina parking
permit. Access is restricted for all non-permitted vehicles including guests, marina employees,
and boat maintenance workers.

We have also added a parking attendant 7 days a week to help ensure parking remains available
for our boaters. Having a “gate keeper” has noticeably improved availability in our lot during the
week and weekend.

For additional parking, we encourage boaters to use the public lot in front of the Hilton or the
Harbor Island Park lot, both of which provide convenient access to Gate 4.

Parking 4th of July

Parking will be especially limited over the 4th of July holiday. As many of you know, there is
never enough parking on 4th of July and despite our parking measures, the lot will fill up early.
To provide additional parking, we have arranged to temporarily open part of the construction
staging areas for boater parking beginning early in the week. While space will still be limited,
this will provide some additional holiday parking.

We’ve also partnered with the ABM public parking lot near the entrance to Harbor Island
(across from the Sheraton). On a space-available basis, Harbor Island West Marina boaters may
park there, and the marina will cover the parking cost. It is our plan to have
a shuttle van help transport boaters between the ABM lot and the marina from mid-day Friday
July 3rd to mid-day Sunday July 5th. Contact the marina office that weekend to receive the
parking code for the pay machine. Note: this option is intended for marina boaters only and
the ABM lot will fill up early as well. We appreciate your patience and apologize for the
inconvenience.

For reference, attached is a map showing the location of the ABM parking lot.

Business as Usual on the Water

Please stop by the marina office anytime, we are always happy to chat, answer questions, hear
your feedback, and share what’s coming next as the marina continues to take shape.
